Widener Leadership Award Winner

Congratulations to Julia Dinicola who received the Widener Leadership Award! 

Sun Valley Junior Julia Dinicola is one of 12 Delaware County students who have been selected for the Widener University Leadership Award. For the past 10 years, Widener University has partnered with NBC 10 and Telemundo62 to give principals and other high school administrators in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware the opportunity to acknowledge and honor the region’s best and brightest future leaders who take it upon themselves to make a significant difference in their schools and communities.

This award program is designed to recognize high school students in the region, in their junior year, who have demonstrated leadership by standing up for what is right, finding a way to address a wrong, or making a significant difference in their schools or communities. Selected students will be honored and recognized during a special celebration held in-person at the National Constitution Center.

Julia is highly involved in her school and community and a true leader for her peers. She is a member of 5 honor societies at Sun Valley, including the NHS, National English and Science Honor Societies, Mu Alpha Theta and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica.  She is an active member of FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America).  She has demonstrated leadership capabilities as well by participating in the Student Senate where she has been a Class Officer for her class for 3 years including Treasurer in 9th grade and Vice President in 10th and 11th grades .  Julia also is in the DCTS program for Biomedical Technology and Laboratory Sciences.  

An athlete, Julia has been a member of the lacrosse and field hockey teams at Sun Valley for 3 years and a Varsity Field Hockey Captain for 2 years.  She has been an Aston AA Field Hockey coach and referee for 2 years.  

Sun Valley is honored Widener has awarded Julia with this recognition and we are so proud of Julia for her outstanding contribution to our school and community.
