Four Sun Valley Music Students Make PMEA District Festivals
On November 21st three Sun Valley students made the PMEA District Honor Choir and one Sun Valley Band member made the District Honor Band. This is the first time in a very long time that more than one or two people from SVHS has made it into this prestigious choir.
Each year The Sun Valley Music Department encourages students to audition for acceptance into the District Choir and Band Festivals. This year the choir had five students audition and the band had three students audition. The auditions were on Saturday November 21st at Bayard Rustin High School in West Chester. The choir students learned three pieces of music for the audition and the band students learned a solo selection, and scales.
The students audition for a group of judges and are scored on various categories. They go up against students from schools in Chester and Delaware counties. Some of our students auditioned against 40 other students. At the end of the day the top students are invited to participate in the District Honor Choir and Band Festivals.
Congratulations to the following students who have made it into the District Festivals:
Kaitlin McCombs - Soprano
Gianni Palmarini - Tenor
Jacqueline Scheck - Alto
Ryan Schmidt - Trumpet
