Dr. Steinhoff and Wawa show appreciation for our bus drivers
While parents and students were just stirring at home for their first day back to school, the Penn-Delco Director of Transportation Al Groer was at Wawa in Aston to pick up a special gift from the Aston Wawa for our bus drivers. By 6:10 am Superintendent Dr. George Steinhoff welcomed the drivers and other transportation staff with coffee, muffins, and water bottles at the bus depot. It was an unexpected treat on a beautiful first day of school just as the sun was just rising. Drivers milled around the back of a pick-up truck where boxes of hot coffee with cream and sugar were shared. There were handshakes and hugs and wishes for a good school year.
"When folks think of the first day of school, they understandably think of the students and classrooms," explained Dr. Steinhoff. "Yet, our drivers kick it all off by being one of the first Penn-Delco faces our students see. It was great that Aston Wawa could help us acknowledge them with a first day breakfast treat. Our drivers are the best. Great people who truly care for kids."
For those drivers that decided to wait to consume refreshments until after their first shift, the treats were moved inside for more enjoyment when they returned. Penn-Delco is grateful for all its faculty and staff, particularly the bus drivers who work in varied conditions all school year long. It was a perfect weather morning to thank them for a job well done every year and in the 2019-2020 school year to come.
