Introducing Power Kids and Power Library

  • Now it is easier than ever to access Power Library from home.  There is no need for an ecard number or library card number to use Power Kids!

POWER Library gives kids the POWER with a web page dedicated to serving their information and learning needs:

    • Need help with research?  Use Chat with a Librarian to chat live with a librarian.
    • Need to find a book?  Use Books, movies and more to locate books anywhere in Pennsylvania.
    • Need facts about Pennsylvania?  Use Discover Pennsylvania for Kids.
    • Need to find images, articles, maps, science fair ideas?  Use E-Resources.

There is so much more!  The CyberSmarts e-resource shows kids how to be safe and responsible while online by providing simulations that allow students to immediately practice the skills they learn through text.  BookFLIX pairs animated videos and classic eBooks to help learning readers.  The fiction and nonfiction pairings strengthen early literacy skills while exposing young learners to real world concepts.

“All of the services in POWER Library are available 24/7,” said Cherie Freeman, District Librarian.   “Even the Chat with a Librarian service is available 24/7.  Finding information on the Internet isn't always as easy as it's made out to be.  Librarians are the ultimate search engine as they know how to find information and they know how to tell whether information is accurate, current, and from a reliable source."
