Sun Valley Hosts First-Ever Mini-THON, Raises $22K for Four Diamonds

After eight hours inside Sun Valley High School, participants in the student-led Mini-THON celebrated raising $22,045 for pediatric cancer research and family support through Four Diamonds.

The event featured a full night of activities, including Hungry Hungry Hippos, Sink the Ship, knockout, volleyball, a bouncy house race, dodgeball, Minute to Win It games, cornhole, and movies in the auditorium. Every hour, activities paused for a group line dance, keeping energy high throughout the night.

While the reveal took place in the gym at the conclusion of the event, fundraising had been underway for months. Efforts included give-back nights at local restaurants, Penny Wars, and other student-led initiatives, with the majority of support coming through online donations via DonorDrive, as well as cash, checks, and sponsorships.

Sun Valley High School joins more than 200 schools nationwide in hosting a Mini-THON, modeled after Penn State’s THON. The program benefits Four Diamonds, which has supported more than 4,800 families impacted by pediatric cancer and partners with Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine to advance treatment and research.
