Monsters Made Real Through Cross-School Collaboration

Monsters Made Real Through Cross-School Collaboration

Kindergartners and high schoolers team up to bring imaginative creatures to life through art and sewing.

Kindergartners at Pennell Elementary let their imaginations soar by creating their very own monsters - —complete with names, favorite foods, fears, favorite colors, and favorite things to do.

Their unique drawings and descriptions were then shared with students in the Sun Valley High School Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) class, who used their sewing skills to craft custom “stuffies” that matched each young student’s monster design.

The project was a fun and meaningful way to combine creative writing, visual arts, and hands-on learning while fostering collaboration between grade levels.
