Northley Middle School students put their spelling skills to the test during this year’s annual Spelling Bee, which concluded after 18 exciting rounds of competition.

Seventh-grader Yousef Khan emerged as the 2026 Spelling Bee Champion, with eighth-grader Brielle Hagan earning the title of runner-up. Both students qualified for the school-wide bee through a written test and demonstrated impressive focus and perseverance throughout the event. The winning word, gardenia, sealed Yousef’s victory.

More than 65 students qualfied for this year’s Spelling Bee, making for a highly competitive and engaging event that showcased strong academic talent across grade levels.

Yousef and Brielle will represent Northley Middle School at the county-wide Spelling Bee next month, and the entire school community is proud of their accomplishment. Congratulations to all of the students who took the stage and gave it their best effort!
