Hello Parkside Families,
Your child brought home this Back to School Night letter last week, but I wanted to make sure that I sent it again since we know how busy this time of year is for families! Please see below. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Parkside Office at 610-497-6300 Ext. 6500 or email me at tyoung@pdsd.org.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Attending Back-to-School Night is an excellent way to meet your child's teacher, learn about the curriculum, understand school programs, and become acquainted with the activities of the Parent Teacher League. Please be reminded that Back-to-School Night is for parents and guardians only. Parkside Elementary Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

In the classroom you will have an opportunity to meet your child's teacher who will briefly explain the program of studies and classroom expectations. Due to time constraints and the need for teachers to present to a large group, they will be unable to conduct individual student progress conferences. Should you have a specific student concern that needs to be addressed, kindly make a request to the teacher for an appointment at another time. An electronic Sign-up for November parent conferences will be sent via email about 4 weeks in advance, parents will not sign up for conference appointments until then.
The Parkside Parent Teacher League will be on hand to discuss their programs for this year. PTL family membership dues may be submitted at this time. Sign-up sheets for PTL activities will also be available at the PTL table in the lobby.
We understand the challenges upon your time, but it is our hope that every Parkside Elementary student will have at least one adult attending Back-to-School Night. Your continued active participation in school events throughout the year is vitally important. We look forward to meeting you at Back-to-School Night on Tuesday evening.
Best,

Hello Parkside Families!
We had a fabulous first day! It was wonderful to see your children back at school today, excited and ready to learn! Tomorrow we will have our first assembly in the morning, so please make sure that your child is on time for school, knows what they want to order for lunch, and has all of their paperwork ready to turn in during morning meeting.
Here are a few reminders to make the rest of the week/year go smoothly:
- In your child's Parkside Folder, you will find paperwork (All About Me form, etc...) that needs to be filled out and returned to school tomorrow--so tonight's homework is for you!
- Lunch Menus were placed in your child's Parkside Folder. Especially for the younger children, if you decide to order lunch in the cafeteria, please go over the menu with them so that they know what they want to order. This will help us with our morning routine and we appreciate your help!
- Please label all of your child's belongings with their name and room number! There were many lunch bags, sweatshirts, and other items left behind today with no label. Please take a few minutes to label things so they can be easily returned if lost.
- Your child may have a water bottle throughout the day, but beverages other than water should be for the cafeteria only. Please do not send soda or other drinks in cans or glass containers for safety reasons.
- Please ensure that your child knows how they will dismiss each day--keep practicing and discussing it with them until they know their routine.
- Your child has a car rider number in their Parkside Folder--if your child will dismiss as a car rider, please practice their number with them! The sooner they learn their number, the more efficiently our dismissal will go. If your child will not dismiss by car, just put them number in a safe place in case you need to pick them up at some point.
Thank you for your patience at dismissal today, particularly in the car line. I promise that by next week, we will have things flowing smoothly once all of the students and teachers know their car number and have the routines established. As always, if I can be of assistance to you, please contact me at tyoung@pdsd.org or at 610-497-6300 Ext. 6500.
Best,
