Information you should know

  • When you are unable to physically report to work for the following reasons:

    • Subject to a Federal, State, or local quarantine or isolation order related to COVID-19
    • Have been advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine related to COVID-19 (*limited to 5 days)
    • Are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and are seeking a medical diagnosis

    you are able to use the following types of leave time from their own personal leave banks, in accordance with their Collective Bargaining Agreement, as applicable:

    • Sick Day
    • Emergency Day
    • Personal Day
    • Vacation Day
    • Leave Without Pay

    When you need to be out of work to care for another individual who is:

    • Subject to a Federal, State, or local quarantine or isolation order related to COVID-19
    • Experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and are seeking a medical diagnosis

    You are able to use the following types of leave time from your own personal leave banks, in accordance with your Collective Bargaining Agreement, as applicable:

    • Family Sick Day
    • Emergency Day
    • Personal Day
    • Vacation Day
    • Leave Without Pay

    If you need to care for a child whose school or place of care is closed (or child care provider is unavailable) due to COVID-19 related reasons, you are able to use the following types of leave from your own leave bank, in accordance with your Collective Bargaining Agreement, as applicable.

    • Personal Day
    • Vacation Day


    Part time PDESPA or PDSSPA members may use their leave without pay days up to the amount allowable under the PDESPA/PDSSPA contract.

    Other COVID-related protocols

    Since the District is no longer under a Hybrid Schedule, telework is no longer an option unless a specific situation is determined to be an institutional need. Such an institutional need requires prior written approval of the Director of Human Resources.

    Documentation regarding quarantine and/or isolation of the employee or employee’s family member may be required. Employees should also contact the Human Resources Department if they believe that their need for leave may qualify for Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”).
