Board President Message

  • A Message to Penn-Delco Staff and Community,

Questions have arisen regarding some memes that I posted on my personal Facebook page along with a recent discussion of COVID-19.

First, these posts are my personal Facebook posts and are not of the Penn-Delco School District. Second, although some of the memes that I have shared in the past could be considered "tasteless", they were only meant to be humorous and not as offensive. If they were interpreted as offensive, I offer an apology to anyone that was affected by them.

I understand that in my role as Board President my personal actions can cast the Penn Delco School District in a particular light. The shared content mostly from 3-4 years ago simply states that breaking the law is how certain situations start and not doing so would help the cause. I do not support any form of police brutality. I have and always will support law enforcement and our military. The amount of dedicated officers and soldiers in our country far outweighs the few bad apples.

Our flag represents our freedom and what our founding fathers fought for. I will always respect it as many men and women have died for our freedom. We need to stand together as a country and support equality. I respectfully treat each and every individual as I would like to be treated and expect the same from our community. It is clear that I have a lot to learn about others sensibilities and I will strive to do better in the future.

Like millions of Americans I have my personal views about the way that the recent pandemic has been handled or mishandled and I took to social media to joke about it. My personal views will not influence the school district's commitment to state requirements, regulations or guidelines from any state or federal agencies.

I have always tried and will continue to try and do what is best for our entire community. Those who know me personally would agree that I am dedicated to making sure we stand together as one. I look forward to moving into the future as one community and making positive changes that benefit everyone.

    Sincerely Yours,
    Mr. Leon Armour

President, Penn Delco Board of School Directors.
