Welcome to the Penn-Delco School District. The district is excited to have your child join us for kindergarten! Online registration will open on March 22, 2021. The entire process for registration will be electronic this year through our Skyward platform.
There are some items you should prepare before beginning the process. Please continue to check this section of our website for additional information about collecting, scanning, and uploading documents as well as preparing your child for their first day.
In the meantime, this section will help you prepare for the opening of Kindergarten registration for the 2021 - 2022 school year. Review the details below and you can also print out our flyer for reference.

What you should know

The Penn-Delco School District kindergarten program is a half-day program. Each student is assigned to either a morning or afternoon class. The times of each session are:
- AM Kindergarten 8:50am - 11:30am
- PM Kindergarten 12:40pm - 3:20pm
To be eligible for kindergarten admission in September 2021, children must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2021. Exceptions to this cut-off date are not permitted. To be included in the kindergarten lottery for morning or afternoon kindergarten preference, registration must be complete on or before April 23, 2021.
NOTE: The compulsory school age in Pennsylvania was recently changed. These changes went into effect during the 2020-2021 school year and will require all students to attend school no later than age 6 and until age 18 or graduation, whichever occurs sooner. These requirements will apply across Pennsylvania.
The 3-step process for kindergarten registration

Step 1: Gather all required documents
In anticipation of the registration process, begin preparing to collect your documents. You will need to prove age, immunizations, and residency. Please prepare the following to upload into our registration system:
For age
Your child's birth certificate: acceptable certificates include state certificate, hospital certificate, or baptismal certificate.
For immunizations
Your child's immunization records or immunization exemption letter.
For current proof of residence
You must prove that you reside in the Penn-Delco School District to register your child for school. We will need one document from each of these lists:
- Proof of ownership or lease (please submit one)
- Deed to the Property
- Current month mortgage bill or statement
- Settlement papers (for a home owned less than 1 month)
- Current year County, Borough, Township, or School District Tax Bill
- If you are leasing, your current and valid residential lease agreement (income tax documents are not acceptable for proof of ownership/rental)
- Current month utility bill for the property (please submit one of these bills)
- electric bill
- home phone bill
- heating bill
- cable bill
- water bill
- sewer bill
- a notice for the initiation of service to the location for a home owned or rented less than 1 month (credit card and insurance bills are not acceptable forms of utilities)
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Pennsylvania State ID Card (must reflect the current property address within Penn-Delco)
Other living arrangements
If you are a Parent/Multiple Occupant in an owned home, you will require all (6) six of these documents:
• Completed and Notarized Multiple Occupancy forms for the current year
• Homeowner’s proof of ownership
• A current month utility bill in the homeowners name (must be within 60 days)
• Valid Driver’s License or State ID card of the homeowner• Parent’s Valid PA Driver’s License or State ID card.
• Parent must also provide one of the following items that reflect the address listed on the affirmation: W-2 Form from your Employer, Public Assistance Letter, Current Pay Stub, Vehicle Registration Card, Utility BillIf you are a Parent/Multiple Occupant in a rented home or apartment, you will need all (7) seven of these documents:
- Completed and Notarized Multiple Occupancy forms for the current year
- Current and valid residential lease agreement
- Current month utility bill in the lease holders name (must be within 60 days)
- Valid PA Driver’s License or State ID card for the lease holder
- Notarized proof from the landlord documenting permission for all parties to reside in the home or apartment
- Valid Parent’s PA Driver’s License or State ID card
- Parent must also provide one of the following items that reflect the address listed on the affirmation: W-2 Form from your Employer, Public Assistance Letter, Current Pay Stub, Vehicle Registration Card, Utility Bill
* Please note that if proof of ownership or rental of the property is not in the parent/legal guardian’s name, Multiple Occupancy Affidavits will need to be completed as well. These affidavits are available at the Administration Building and here.

Step 2: Complete Online Enrollment
- Our 2021-2022 registration process will occur electronically in our Skyward system. A link will be shared on March 22, 2021 to create an account. Be sure to make note of the username, email address and password for later use! Please note: If you have an existing PDSD Skyward Account, you do not need to create a new one. Just simple login using your username and password.
- Complete the online registration forms. These forms provide the district with important contact and demographic information needed to create the initial student record. Please remember to hit submit at the end of the process or the registration will not be received.

Step 3: Share Documents
Submit all required documents by uploading them into the Skyward platform (information on how to scan is forthcoming). If you are unable to submit documents electronically, you can schedule an appointment with the residency office to submit documents in person at the district administration office. Immunization records and birth certificate are required to be uploaded in order to submitt enrollment online.
Once a registration is complete and accepted, parents/guardians will receive an official confirmation from the district.
To be included in the kindergarten lottery completed registration must be received by April 23, 2021. More information about the lottery is shared in the FAQ section on this page.

Does the Penn-Delco School District offer a full-day or half-day kindergarten program?

No. Penn-Delco School District does not bus kindergarten students. Transportation is the responsibility of parent(s)/guardians.

How does the kindergarten registration process work?

What if I do not have internet access?

I already have a children attending Penn-Delco School District. Do I still need to provide the registration information and proof of residency?
Yes. For every new student registered to attend a school in the Penn-Delco School District, a parent/guardian must complete the registration process and provide all required proofs and documents.

Is there a deadline to register my child for kindergarten?
No. Kindergarten registration is ongoing; however, children must be registered by April 23, 2021 in order to be included in the kindergarten lottery to determine morning or afternoon kindergarten session placement. Please see more information about the kindergarten lottery below.

May I indicate a preference for morning or afternoon session?
Yes. When completing Kindergarten Registration, families may indicate a preference for either morning or afternoon session, but the School District cannot guarantee that requests will be granted. The Penn-Delco School District will utilizes a lottery for the 2021-2022 school year to ensure equity in assigning sessions. Please note that session assignment will not be made on a first-come, first-served basis and will not be performed during registration.

How does the Kindergarten Lottery work?
When completing the online registration materials, please indicate your preference for either morning or afternoon kindergarten. If the number of requests for one of the sessions exceeds our capacity to honor those requests, a lottery (i.e., random selection) will be used to help determine session assignments. Please note: children must be registered* by May April 23, 2021 in order to be included in the lottery.

What happens if a school reaches capacity for a kindergarten class?
In the event classroom maximums are reached, the Administration will assign students to another school, typically the neighboring school, within the District where a vacancy exists. Students typically return to their home school for 1st – 5th grade.

Is before and aftercare available?
Today’s Child, a private before and after care agency, provides Before & After School Care at some of our buildings for a fee. If you have questions regarding the Today's Child program, schedule or prices, please contact them at 610-583-2273, or visit their website to learn more.

How do I arrange a tour of the school my child will attend in the fall?
Please note due to the current national pandemic, no tours will be available until further notice.
