On behalf of the Parkside Elementary staff, welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. As partners in education, we look forward to a collaborative year filled with rich learning experiences. The Parkside Elementary theme this year is Explore. Dream. Discover. These words are fitting, as elementary school is a time to explore, dream and discover interests and talents. This theme embodies the essence of learning and challenges all of us to nurture the explorer, dreamer and discoverer in our children every day. Parkside Elementary is committed to providing a high-quality education; the curriculum is comprehensive and designed to meet the needs of all learners. Meaningful, standards-based instruction in the content areas of language arts, math, science and social studies as well as visual arts, music, band, guidance, character education, and physical education are at the core of the curriculum. Without question, children do better in school when families and community groups work together to support learning, which is why Parkside Elementary is fortunate to have a dedicated staff, engaged students, involved parents and a supportive community.
