I want to begin by thanking Punxsutawney Phil for the extra six weeks of winter. The quantity of snow and cold has been both impressive and disruptive. Please continue to check the district and school websites for updates on the school calendar. Currently, we have additional student days on Mondays April 14th, April 21st, and June 16th. If there is a need for additional days, the district will add during Spring Break beginning with Tuesday, April 15th through April 18th.

Another consequence of the snow days is a delay in PSSA testing. The state has extended the window by a week which has us doing the same. You will be hearing more about the changing schedule as the PSSA window approaches. We are asking that you begin to speak with your students about their preparations for this exam. Have your student teach you or explain to you what they learned in school each day.

Construction is still in high gear. We have officially made the first of five transitions. Nine rooms have been relocated into the new wing and a lab. It will take about six weeks for each of the phases. Both the students and teachers are thrilled with their new rooms and the technology. While the room renovations are being conducted, you will also see work ramping up in the front of Northley on the administrative and pool areas. I want to reassure you that throughout the construction your student’s safety is our number one priority.

There are many exciting events coming up in the next month, so please mark your calendars. The National Junior Honor Society will be holding interviews for admittance. There are 144 seventh and eighth graders who qualify academically, but must also demonstrate integrity of character, leadership, and exemplary citizenship to be honored. Our spring band concert will be held on Thursday, March 6th followed by our spring choral concert on Tuesday, March 11th.

We welcome your continued involvement as we strive for excellence in education for every student.

Thank you,

L. J. Blair
