Dear Parents and students,
Coebourn Elementary School Community has another exciting and adventurous school year ahead. Coebourn Elementary is a school that achieves academic excellence and growth, fosters a positive learning environment, and welcomes parent support. Teachers continuously grow as educators to provide the highest level of quality instruction. Faculty participates in data teams and professional learning communities to collegially analyze student data to identify strength and needs of students in order to effectively enhance academic skills. Coebourn Elementary School was awarded two significant awards for implementing a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Character Education Program. We are a 2015 National School of Character and a 2015 PBS BANNER School, which acknowledges our school community’s commitment to enhancing the academic, behavioral, emotional, and social skills of students. Core values and behavioral expectations are integrated within the education of students school-wide. Students are recognized daily and monthly for modeling these positive values: Respect-Responsibility-Ready to learn!
Coebourn Elementary will be continuing our intervention model of MTSS/RtII. “What I Need Time” or “WIN Time” will continue to challenge all students at their instructional level. In addition to the students’ classroom teacher, other support teachers and staff will support groups of students to challenge them to grow academically in the focus subjects of Reading, Writing, and Math. “WIN Time” is considered an all hands-on deck. For example, regular education teachers, special education teachers, reading specialist, child study coordinator, building tutor and paraprofessionals will all work together during WIN Time to provide research based instruction to enhance the academic skills specifically for reading and writing. All available teachers will support a grade level during this time. Academic data will identify student needs and the best instructional intervention for all students. WIN Time does not take away from any traditional curriculum areas, rather, it is “in addition to” the general curriculum. Coebourn’s goal is academic growth and excellence of every child.
Coebourn Elementary PTL continues to support initiatives, staff, and students to ensure your child has a positive experience at school. I encourage the school community to support their efforts and be actively involved. The PTL fundraisers directly support assemblies, events, and items for the students. For example, every student will receive a 2015/2016 Coebourn T-Shirt to wear to school or special events and will be paid for by the Coebourn PTL.
I look forward to another successful school year with assisting your children grow academically, behaviorally, emotionally, and socially!
