Penn-Delco

School District

Bullying Prevention Program

As a district, Penn-Delco feels strongly about addressing the issue of bullying in our schools. It is our belief that by being proactive, not only do we create a more productive and enjoyable educational experience for our children, we also promote social acceptance.

All four elementary schools and Northley Middle School utilize a form of the internationally recognized Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. This program is unique, in that it is a data based vs. a subjectively base program. It has been found to reduce bullying among children, improve the social climate of classrooms, and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as vandalism and truancy.

Annually, surveys are conducted to help determine where we have made progress and where there are areas of need. Three of our principals are here this evening to present some of the results from this year’s survey, as well as describe some of the programs they have implemented in their schools.
