Pennell Elementary School, twice recognized as an award-winning “Blue Ribbon School”, is beginning its fifth year in a newly renovated facility. Our school building is proud to feature two full computer labs, improved security, air conditioning, large, bright classrooms, an expansive library, and other state-of-the-art features that contribute to an exemplary learning environment.
Our dedicated staff works hard to ensure that the educational experience provided to our students is even more impressive than our school environment. Well-trained teachers and classroom assistants maintain an intense commitment to raising academic achievement levels for all students as demonstrated by our school’s strong performance on Pennsylvania State Student Assessments. In addition to our core academic curriculum, all students receive instruction in physical education, music, art, guidance, and library science. Spanish and instrumental music is also available for students at the upper grades. A district-wide gifted program is available for talented students who would benefit from higher-level enrichment programs supplementing regular classroom instruction. Students with special needs receive appropriate support in the classroom to promote their own individual success.
Pennell maintains a very active PTL group that encourages and promotes high levels of school-to-home communication and partnerships.
Pennell’s school theme for the 2008-2009 school year is “Pennell is the Place to Bee”. Pennell’s emphasis on strong character, diligence, and effort signifies the ongoing energy that our school puts toward the development of healthy habits of mind for all students. We stress to the students that real success is a long-term product of hard work, setting of goals, and building upon the core academic skills that we set in the primary years.
