The 2012-2013 school year has brought some big and exciting changes to our classrooms in grades 1-5. All of the classrooms, except one, have been entirely renovated on the inside. Each class has new floors, cabinetry, interactive whiteboards, decorative wall space in the back, different ceiling design, new school furniture and technology. This is all a result of phase I of the construction project at Aston. The lone classroom, not part of phase I, will be redone during phase II that takes place in the summer of 2013. The main office will be relocated at the front of the building along with the nurse's office and health rooms, some small group instruction rooms and other upgraded items during phase II. More specific information will be forthcoming during the year.

Aston once again met AYP for the 10th consecutive year on the PSSA assessment. The challenges before us becomes even more formidable this coming school year with benchmarks raised even higher. Reading is the subject area that we will be focusing on during the school year, and all that you can do to make reading a focal point at home throughout the school year will be appreciated. Communicate with your child's teacher to see how you can help with this endeavor.

Please utilize our website throughout the 2012-13 school year to help you locate information regarding our special committees, student organizations, and teacher web pages.  If you have any questions about the website, or cannot find what you are looking for, please contact the main office at the school.

Sincerely,

Gary W. Bender

Aston Elementary Principal
