I want to welcome everyone back from Spring Break. I hope you had a wonderful time to rest and ready yourself for the push to the end of the school year. PSSA testing is in beginning. The 8th graders have completed the writing portion of their exam. All students will begin the mathematics and English sections the week of April 8th. Please ensure your student is well rested nightly and they come to school having eaten breakfast.

The Northley Middle School National Junior Honor Society admitted twenty-one 8th graders and forty-five 7th graders this year. The admittance of students is based on academics, community service, and positive leadership skills. Each student went through a screening process and had to have a faculty recommendation. You should be proud of each student who has been accepted into the Honor Society.

Our Band concert on March 21 was phenomenal. If you were not able to attend, please join us for our upcoming Choral concert on April 4th. The students and Mrs. Hazlett have put an incredible amount of time into rehearsing for this event. Come early to get the best seat.

The 3rd quarter will be ending April 5th, so you should be looking for your student’s report card around April 19th. Please check in with your student on a nightly basis. As a matter of practice, ask to see their agenda and homework daily. You can also view their updated grades on the parent portal through the district webpage.

After reading the book Number the Stars which recounts the story of a young Danish girl through the German occupation of Denmark during WWII, the 6th grade class will have an amazing assembly. On April 12th, the class will have a presentation from an actual Holocaust survivor. This will be an eye opening experience that will bring the words in the story to life. I would encourage you to take the opportunity to engage your student in a significant conversation shortly after the assembly.

L.J. Blair,

Principal
