Students should be prepared for indoor and/or outdoor activities.

WHY PHYSICAL EDUCATION?
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Regular physical activity makes children more alert and energetic, which improves their capacity to learn. A healthy mind needs a healthy body to perform at its best!
HEALTH: A primary benefit of regular physical activity is protection against heart disease. Inactivity appears to contribute to risk factors like obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
WEIGHT CONTROL: Participation in P.E. increases energy expenditure and helps control body fat levels
PHYSICAL FITNESS: An introduction to P.E., gives students the principles and skills necessary for implementing and maintaining a physical active lifestyle.
SELF-ESTEEM: Directed play and P.E. programs contribute to the development of self-esteem in elementary students.
STRESS MANAGEMENT: Like adults, children experience stress in their daily lives. Physical activity is a positive method for coping with stress.
SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT: Research has found that participation in games, sports and play seems to be related to children learning to fit into their society
