Dr. George Steinhoff Appointed
Superintendent of Penn-Delco School District

The Penn-Delco Board of School Directors unanimously selected Dr. George Steinhoff to become the District’s new superintendent at a special meeting on Tuesday, May 6th.  Having served as principal of Pennell Elementary School for over two years prior to accepting a position in the Avon Grove School District last winter, Dr. Steinhoff commented to an appreciative audience how wonderful it was to return.

“As Superintendent, I’m going to work very hard to make sure that the people in our public continue to know the reason why they truly should be proud of the work that’s being done in the schools,” stated Steinhoff.  “This is a District that we know has great students, a great staff, great parents, great employees and a supportive community.”  Dr. Steinhoff also outlined several core beliefs used to guide his decision making, first of which is to always treat every child as if they were our own.

School Board President Anthony Ruggieri stated, “We were please to find that Dr. Steinhoff possessed many of the preferred skills and talents that were identified by the focus groups that were held throughout the District with the parents and employees last fall.”

Director Joan Fiordimondo summed up her satisfaction with the appointing of Dr. Steinhoff by paraphrasing the immortal words of astronaut Neil Armstrong.  “This is one small step for our Board and one giant leap forward for the Penn-Delco School District.”

The Board of Directors approved a five year contact for Dr. Steinhoff which will begin on July 1, 2008.
